Off the coast of Alaska is a small island. It is called Nork. Nork is quite popular for steam enthusiasts, as they have a heritage railway on the island. This railway is mainly run by steam engines, though they do have a few diesels, and this has caused some arguments. However, it’s the shipping industry that Nork is most well-known for, and it’s the ships that carry out this work. Most important of all are the tugboats, and while they seem small, they are not to be overlooked, for they are, for their size, the most powerful crafts to float. The engines, ships, and tugs work together to make everything run like clockwork. These are
Main Characters
Engines (Steam):
Neil - A kind-hearted but stern engine, who is a voice of reason amongst the others.
Dick - A newer engine who has a lot to learn, and doesn’t trust diesels at all.
Emily - A young engine, but very wise, and is eager to help whenever help is needed.
Diane - An older but still playful engine, who sometimes plays tricks on the others.
Sir Reginald I - The oldest of them all, a very proud Brit (his pride sometimes gets him into trouble); likes to point out to the others every little thing that the others do wrong.
Roark - The youngest of them all, but extremely wise, and though there’s something about him that gives the others chills, he’s the hardest working of them all.
Mark - A happy-go-lucky youngster; twin of Johnny.
Johnny - A very bouncy little engine; twin of Mark.
Engines (Diesel):
D98765 - A stern engine that wants no nonsense from anyone.
Midge - A little, sassy engine that looks down upon steam.
Kyle - A paranoid engine that thinks that everyone is out to get him, and distrust steam engines.
Mngwa - Named after the alleged killer cat do to his somewhat mysterious personality.
BoCo - A diesel that arrived over from an island off the coast of Britain; friends with the steam engines.
Ships (Cargo):
Izzy Gomez - A Mexican freighter that tries to slip into port without a tow, due to the high costs.
Dirk - A German freighter that frequently tries to tell the others fairy tales.
Douglas - A Scottish freighter that talks of nothing but the Highland.
Ships (Military Base):
Nimitz - A huge but kind aircraft carrier.
Typhoon - A Russian submarine, proud for being the biggest in the world, and one that will stand no nonsense.
Franklin - A destroyer that keeps everything in order.
Other Ships:
Coast Guard Cutter - Keeps everything at the harbor in order.

Tugboats:
Icebreaker - A strong little tugboat that is fearless and will brave the worst dangers to get a job well done.
QJ - An old tug that is wise and kind, and keeps the little tugs in order.
Vlad - A big, Russian tug that is prideful and keeps pointing out the ‘specks in everyone else’s eyes’, while he has a log in his own!
Stormy - A brave tug that has been through many storms (which is how he got his name).
Kirk and Lars - Two hard rock-loving tugs that always have their radios on… which always ends up distracting them…!
Warrior - A big and strong tug that tries to keep everything running smoothly, and will always lend a helping tow.
People:
Harry Wilfred - An retired military sergeant that likes to watch the tugs, ships, and engines at work.
Jimmy - His grandson.
Richard Walters - The engines’ controller.
Captain T. Sherman - The owner of the tugboats.
